You know, our family loves factory tours or tours of “where it all began” anytime we can fit it in. Sometimes that’s a food factory and sometimes it’s an entrepeneurs home base. In this case, we were inspired first, then got to eat some of the Colonel’s creations next door in the KFC store. A yummy afternoon day trip!

Eat where it all began! The original Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant serves KFC
products in the large restored dining room. See the Colonel’s kitchen as it was in 1940
(early dishwashers, French fry press) when he developed his secret recipe. The
business flourished because he combined good cooking, hard work and showmanship.
Be sure to look in the display case for the cooking clock with the third hand. Also see
his office, model motel room he rented and much of his marketing strategies. Do you
know how many herbs and spices are in his chicken recipe? Did you know it
was his honor system franchise concept (that he sold across country) that, at
age 65+, made him money – and not his own restaurant?
